As of today I’ve been working from home for 6 months
It’s hard to even remember what normal is

I watch TV and get anxious because all the characters are standing t oo close and not wearing masks.

Yeah, we took our dog to the vet today and that’s the longest and closest we’ve been to another human being in 6 months. It was exhausting mentally and extremely stress inducing.
I have a few more things to do today, then it’s beer time for sure...

I saw a couple (at least, I hope they were a couple) making out near a bus stop today, and I’m pretty sure it’s the first time I’ve seen anyone kiss this year.
Granted, even in normal times I didn’t spend a lot of time hanging out in private abodes and exercising my voyeuristic tendencies, but it was just striking to see.

What’s a “month”? It’s still March right?
(Seriously...one neighbor just took Santa off the roof. Someone else put a Christmas tree in their yard last week. It was 100, and then it snowed. I’ M LOSING IT.)

I get nostalgic, and wonder if real life will ever look like TV and movies again, or if TV and movies will eventually look like us. Probably not, since you need to have a lot of people together in a room to film a scripted program

The vet I go to here is still doing a wait in car thing. They collect your dog from you car, do what they need to do, bring the dog back out, and give you a call to discuss.

We’re just now starting to see content that was c reated when Covid first hit and they definitely get c reative with how they do it.

Normal is entirely context dependent. I was talking with my grandparents about it (one of whom was working during the Great Depression). Think about all the kids in first and second grade. If this does go on for another year or two like it’s forecasted to, this will be normal to them. It might still be abnormal to us because we have a different frame of reference to compare it to.

The last part is hilarious.
But this year has been absolute insanity. I can barely keep track of anything. The Vet told us today we were last there in Feburary and I would have sworn it was over a year and the dog was due for shots again soon.

That would have been much nicer.
We still go to a ru ral vet that also does large animal work. We love them and have been going to them for 15 years but they’re in a rural part of a state that never took this pandemic seriously to begin with. It was better than I expected with the staff wearing masks and partitions up at the front desk but we were the only customers wearing a mask.

That is definitely true. To be honest the thought of going into an office every day even seems foreign to me anymore. I work in IT so the likelihood of me every going into the office 5 days a week again is low.
Also man your grandparents must be o ld. My last grandparent died last year at 93 and she was a young child at the beginning the great depression. Enjoy the time you have with them.
She always had a different perspective though, lived through the great depression and my grandfather captained a PT boat in the Pacific.

My granddad is turning 101 at the end of the month, so sometimes a “back in the old days” story is nice to hear about how the more things change, the more they stay the same.

I need to go the dentist - but refuse to.
